Hopefully this section will answer some of the common questions asked by families before joining The Roots Homeschool group. Please feel free to email us with any additional questions that come to mind.
How much does this cost? The cost for 2024-2025 will be $100 per family for the year.
What ages can attend? All ages, birth through 18 years (12th grade).
How are the classes divided? For 2024-2025, we have expanded our class sizes and breakdown to accommodate as many families as possible. Classes will be Nursery, Pre-K, K/1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th.
What types of classes are offered? Age-appropriate, fun, and engaging classes are taught by the parents. Some examples of our classes this year are Mini Book Club, Music, Character Building Through Animal Science, Art Around the World, Chivalry, and Drama.
Can I drop my kids off? No. Parents are expected to stay the entire time during each meeting.
Do I have to teach a class? By definition, a CO-OP is a cooperating group of parents who work together to plan, teach, and lead. Every parent is expected to teach, assist and help in some way.
What If I've never taught before? Well, since you are homeschooling your children, this is a great time to learn! Our leadership teams and other parents will be more than happy to help you find resources to use to teach an engaging and fun class. You CAN do this!
Does the co-op provide all the supplies for our classes? We ask each teacher to provide a list of specific supplies they need for their classes, and then publish that list on Amazon and through our Facebook page and Band app so our members can contribute supplies. It helps keep each family's cost low if everyone brings a few items on the list.
When does the co-op meet? We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 9:30 AM - 12:15 PM with the option to stay until 1:00 PM and eat lunch together.
Do I have to sign a statement of faith to join this co-op? Yes, we have a form that must be agreed to and signed before your family is allowed to join.
Do you have an Honor Code? Yes. You can read it here.
Do you plan any field trips? YES! Our leadership team will plan field trips for the months that have a 5th Tuesday. We will post details in the BAND app for our members to see.
This is my first year homeschooling. Can I join? Yes, but only you can determine if The Roots is a good fit for your family.
What do you think is the benefit of being in a homeschool co-op? Friends (not just for the kids, but also the parents!), interesting classes, a fun change of schedule every other week, a chance to learn different teaching methods from other parents, support, community, and on and on!
